Why ~ Caregivers need to
take time for themselves!
Are you caring for a family
member or friend with Alzheimer's disease or a
related dementia? Among Friends is now available for
you. Take a break on Tuesdays and/or Fridays and do
something for yourself.
Among Friends day respite program
will provide the person you care for with a safe and
secure environment.
Participants will have a fun
filled day with planned and structured activities.
This includes being flexible in schedules!
There is caring and knowledgeable
staff who are skilled at working with people with
Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.
Activities will focus on:

Music
-
Art
-
Brain Gym
-
Excercise
Members of the Among Friends club
will socialize with other members and enjoy a
healthy and delicious meal and snack during the day.
Staff will keep caregivers up to
date on progress and activities.
The Process
Among Friends staff will meet
with potential members of the program and their
caregivers one on one in their home and assist them
in completing necessary paperwork as well as assess
their needs and abilities. This process will
determine whether Among Friends program is right for
them.
The participants must meet basic
guidelines and skill level to benefit from the
program:

Must have managed
incontinence.

Able to utilize restroom
facilities with minimal assistance and responds
to verbal cueing.

Limited behavioral issues:
non-violent, non-combative, managed wandering.

Is able to participate in a
structured environment.

Require minimal assistance
with eating.
Cost is $35.00 per day, which is
5 hours of respite. This cost also includes lunch
and snack during the day.
Each qualified participant will
receive a free pas for their first day.
